Carbon monoxide, a lethal intruder within your home
In winter time, people tend to cosy up on the couch with the heating on. Especially than, carbon monoxide is lurking around the corner. When the heating sources are not properly maintained, carbon monoxide can be released. Carbon monoxide isn’t only dangerous in winter. Even in summer one can suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning. When the temperature outside is higher than the temperature of the boiler, carbon monoxide can’t escape the pipes and will remain in your home. Therefore one must be cautious for carbon monoxide poisoning in summer as well. Carbon monoxide is a lethal gas, which is not detectable with our senses. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to have one or more alarms installed, to make sure you are warned in time.

The smart Smartwares carbon monoxide alarm makes sure you are always up to date on when carbon monoxide is measured in your home. When 50ppm carbon monoxide is detected the alarm goes off. The alarm gives a warning through a sound signal and a notification in the Homewizard Link app on your smartphone. Set up emergency contacts via the app so that your loved ones also receive a notification in the event of danger and you can leave your home safely.
Install your carbon monoxide alarm in the right place
A carbon monoxide alarm functions best when it is placed on the ceiling, when the heat source is located in the same room. If there is no heat source located in the room, the carbon monoxide alarm should be placed on the wall. Place the CO alarm at a centralized location, at minimum of 30 cm away from the walls and at a horizontal distance of 1-3 meters from the possible source of Carbon monoxide. When you place the alarm on the wall, this should be at least 15-80 cm from the ceiling. The ideal spot to hang a carbon monoxide alarm is in the same room as the boiler or the gas-stove. The alarm can be mounted using a number of screws.
